Dodgers Provide Updates on Ohtani, Klein, and Coaching Staff
Shohei Ohtani will not undergo surgery for his knee or biceps injuries, according to Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman. Ohtani is expected to be fully healthy for Spring Training and will return to a two-way role in the 2027 season.
Despite his return, Friedman did not clarify whether Ohtani would face any limitations during the season. Ohtani struggled with injuries in the latter part of the previous season, missing time in September and performing poorly at the plate. He had a strong first half, boasting a .293 batting average and 22 home runs before his injuries affected his performance.
In other news, reliever Will Klein underwent a minor elbow procedure to remove bone chips but is expected to be ready for Spring Training. The Dodgers also announced that their coaching staff, including manager Dave Roberts, is expected to remain intact for the 2027 season.
