Dodgers Welcome Back Will Smith for Playoff Push

The Los Angeles Dodgers have activated veteran catcher Will Smith from the injured list as they gear up for the playoff season in September.

Smith, who has been sidelined since early June due to an inflamed disc in his neck, was instrumental in the team's previous World Series victory, hitting the decisive home run in Game 7 against the Toronto Blue Jays. Before his injury, he had a batting average of .249 with six home runs.

In addition to Smith, the Dodgers also activated catcher Dalton Rushing and left-handed starter Justin Wrobleski, who will now pitch from the bullpen. To make room, they designated catcher Ben Rortvedt for assignment and sent outfielder Alek Thomas to Triple-A Oklahoma City. The Dodgers currently lead the National League West division with a record of 82-55.
