Klein was placed on the 15-day injured list on August 1 due to discomfort in his right elbow. The MRI results suggest that he may need arthroscopic surgery, a common procedure for such injuries, which could potentially end his 2026 season.

This season, Klein has maintained a 3.67 ERA with 49 strikeouts over 41.2 innings pitched across 36 appearances. Despite recent struggles, he had previously demonstrated his value during the Dodgers' 2025 postseason, notably pitching five scoreless innings in the World Series. The Dodgers are also dealing with injuries to other key players, including Shohei Ohtani, who has been sidelined with knee and biceps issues.
