Dolphins Coach Jeff Hafley Addresses Malik Willis' Performance Amid Bench Speculation
As the Miami Dolphins prepare for their Week 6 matchup against the New York Jets, head coach Jeff Hafley has confirmed that Malik Willis will remain the starting quarterback despite ongoing speculation about a potential benching.
Hafley acknowledged the struggles Willis has faced, noting that the entire offense needs to improve. He highlighted the importance of better performance from the receivers, tight ends, and offensive line, as well as from Willis himself. Currently, Willis ranks low in the NFL with a 43.9 adjusted QBR and a passer rating of 68.4, having thrown two touchdown passes and four interceptions in the first five weeks of the season.
Additionally, Hafley pointed out Willis' issues with ball security, as he has lost a fumble in each of the last three games. The coach stated that the team will focus on addressing these problems during their bye week, emphasizing the need for awareness and improvement to avoid further turnovers. The Dolphins are set to face the New England Patriots on November 1.
