Dolphins' Future Strategy Under Scrutiny
As the 2026 NFL season kicks off, questions are emerging regarding the Miami Dolphins' strategy, reminiscent of their controversial approach seven years ago when they appeared to be intentionally losing games.
Back in 2019, allegations surfaced that owner Stephen Ross offered former coach Brian Flores $100,000 for each loss to secure a better draft position. Currently, the Dolphins are facing challenges related to the aftermath of Tua Tagovailoa's contract, which has left them with $55.4 million in dead money this season, contributing to a total of nearly $183 million in dead money.
The team has made significant roster changes, including signing quarterback Malik Willis to a three-year, $67.5 million deal and retaining running back De’Von Achane. While the Dolphins may struggle in the short term, their focus appears to be on establishing a new culture and moving past the issues of the previous management. Their upcoming season opener presents a potential opportunity for a victory amidst these challenges.
