Dolphins May Place DL Kenneth Grant on IR-Return List
The Miami Dolphins are contemplating moving defensive lineman Kenneth Grant to the IR-return list following a leg injury he sustained in mid-August. This decision comes as the team is undergoing a significant restructuring, with a payroll that allocates more funds to players no longer on the roster than to current players.
In addition to Grant, the Dolphins are expected to utilize one of their IR-return slots for rookie linebacker Trey Moore, who is sidelined with an ankle injury. Players placed on IR with return designations must miss at least four games, and the Dolphins have eight regular-season IR activations available.
Grant, who started five of the 17 games he played last season, would be out until at least Week 5 if placed on IR. His performance was ranked 102nd among qualified interior defensive linemen last season. The Dolphins' management has shown a willingness to reassess the roster, as evidenced by recent contract extensions for other players.
