Dolphins Sign Veteran Clelin Ferrell Ahead of 2026 Season

The Miami Dolphins have made a significant addition to their roster ahead of the 2026 season by signing veteran edge rusher Clelin Ferrell. This move comes as the team faces uncertainties regarding their defensive strategy, particularly in stopping opponents' running games following the departures of key players Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips.

Ferrell, who was drafted fourth overall by the Raiders in 2019, stands at 6'4 and weighs 265 pounds, making him the largest edge defender on the Dolphins' roster. Despite not meeting the expectations set for a top-five pick, he has built a respectable NFL career, participating in 58 games and recording 21 sacks, along with 29 tackles for loss and 59 quarterback hits.

As the Dolphins prepare for training camp, Ferrell is expected to play a crucial role in run defense, either alongside Chop Robinson or as a substitute. He signed a short-term deal that allows him the opportunity to earn more in the future based on his performance.
