Dougie Cochrane: Top Prospect for 2026 AFL Draft
Dougie Cochrane is anticipated to be the first selection in the 2026 AFL Draft, recognized for his impactful play both in midfield and as a key position player.
As a member of Port Adelaide's Next Generation Academy, Cochrane is following in the footsteps of his father and brother. His draft campaign was affected by knee surgery, causing him to miss the U18s National Championships for two consecutive years. He returned to play in August with Port Adelaide's SANFL team, participating in four League games and demonstrating his skills across various positions.
Previously, Cochrane played five matches for the Bulldogs' senior team in 2025, scoring 10 goals and contributing to the team's finals run. His notable strengths include effective kicking, aerial ability, versatility, and readiness for the professional level. Port Adelaide is expected to match any bid for him in the draft.
