DP World Tour Bars LIV Golf Players for 2027 Season
The DP World Tour has announced that players who sign up for LIV Golf will not be allowed to participate in its events during the 2027 season. This decision marks a significant shift in the tour's policy, requiring players to choose their affiliations.
Under the new rules, players must declare their intended tours, and those who do not comply may face termination of their membership. Previously, some players, including Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton, were granted conditional releases to compete on both tours. However, the DP World Tour will no longer accept members who plan to play for LIV Golf, which is undergoing restructuring after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
The deadline for players to register with the DP World Tour is November 16, while LIV Golf must finalize its player sign-ups by October 25. The DP World Tour's decision is influenced by its ongoing negotiations with the PGA Tour and the perception that LIV Golf's equity offerings conflict with its member organization structure.
