Dre Greenlaw Suspended for One Game Following Ejection Against Seahawks
Dre Greenlaw, a linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers, was ejected during the second quarter of a game against the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field. The ejection occurred after Greenlaw headbutted Seahawks linebacker Ernest Jones IV, with Greenlaw wearing a helmet while Jones was not.
On Monday, the NFL announced that Greenlaw would be suspended for one game without pay due to unsportsmanlike conduct. This suspension is set to affect his availability for the 49ers' upcoming game against the Washington Commanders on October 19. NFL insider Tom Pelissero noted that Greenlaw has the option to appeal the suspension.
Greenlaw's ejection followed a previous penalty for a late hit on Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold. This incident marks the third time Greenlaw has been ejected from a game, with past incidents contributing to the league's decision. If the suspension is upheld, he will miss the Week 6 matchup, where the 49ers are currently favored by 7.5 points.
