Dre Greenlaw Suspended for One Game Following Ejection in 49ers' Win
Dre Greenlaw, a linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers, has been suspended for one game without pay due to an incident during the team's 32-29 victory over the Seattle Seahawks. The suspension will see him miss the upcoming Week 6 game against the Washington Commanders, although he has the option to appeal the decision.
The incident occurred in the second quarter when Greenlaw was penalized for a late hit on Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold. Following this, he confronted Seattle linebacker Ernest Jones, who was not wearing a helmet, and head-butted him, resulting in his ejection from the game.
The NFL stated that Greenlaw's actions violated sportsmanship principles as outlined in their rules. This is not the first time Greenlaw has faced disciplinary action; he received a one-game suspension last year while with the Denver Broncos and has been ejected multiple times in his career, including for a helmet-to-helmet hit in 2022.
