McIntyre's last WWE appearance was at WrestleMania 42, where he lost an Unsanctioned Match against Jacob Fatu. Following this, he completed filming for the Highlander reboot before starting work on The Last Druid.

Despite speculation about a potential WWE return, McIntyre's agent clarified that his recent trip to Scotland was a brief break before returning to Spain for filming. He has also shared glimpses of his character in The Last Druid, including a photo in medieval attire.
