Drew Rasmussen to Start Game 5 for Rays on Short Rest
Drew Rasmussen is set to start for the Tampa Bay Rays on short rest in Game 5 of the World Series against the Milwaukee Brewers, with the Rays facing elimination.
The 31-year-old right-hander previously pitched 3 2/3 innings in Game 2, where he allowed four runs in the first inning and did not receive a decision. Rays manager Kevin Cash noted that Rasmussen was eager to take the mound again after his last performance.
Rasmussen has undergone three major elbow surgeries in his career, including two Tommy John surgeries. He had a successful regular season, finishing with a 16-5 record and a 2.67 ERA. Meanwhile, the Brewers will start Jacob Misiorowski, who has four days' rest, as they lead the series 3-1. Additionally, Rays third baseman Junior Caminero will play despite a foot injury sustained in Game 4.
