Ducati's Tardozzi Defends Marquez Amid Qatar Race Concerns
Davide Tardozzi has come to the defense of Marc Marquez amid rising concerns from MotoGP riders regarding the upcoming race in Qatar. As the championship prepares for its visit to the Lusail International Circuit, riders have requested safety guarantees from the organizers due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The MotoGP season is nearing its conclusion, with the Qatar Grand Prix rescheduled to November 6-8 after initial doubts about its viability. Despite the tense situation, championship officials, including those from Liberty Media, have confirmed their intention to proceed with the event.
While many riders have expressed their apprehensions about traveling to Qatar, Tardozzi emphasized that Marquez has merely sought assurances regarding safety, rather than refusing to participate. He noted that other riders have remained silent in meetings with officials, despite having voiced stronger opinions privately. Tardozzi reiterated that Marquez is advocating for a safety plan, which includes an evacuation strategy, and criticized the unfair blame directed at him.
