
Duncan Chan Advances to National Bank Open Main Draw
Duncan Chan from Canada has qualified for the men's main draw at the National Bank Open in Montreal after defeating world No. 90 Hugo Gaston from France with a score of 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 on Saturday.
Chan, who is ranked 601st globally, is entering his senior year at Texas Christian University, where he was recognized as the most improved player in NCAA men's tennis last season. He finished the NCAA season ranked in the top 10 for both singles and doubles, contributing to TCU's advancement to the national semifinals and earning All-American honors.
With Chan's qualification, he joins other Canadian players including Felix Auger-Aliassime, Denis Shapovalov, Gabriel Diallo, Liam Draxl, and Alexis Galarneau in the main draw, which begins on Sunday.
