Dwayne Peel Prepares for European Challenge Cup Clash Against Newcastle

Dwayne Peel is set to lead Scarlets against Newcastle Red Bulls in the European Challenge Cup opener on Saturday at 20:00 BST. This match marks a reunion with his former teammate Stephen Jones, who is now coaching Newcastle, and Dan McFarland, Peel's ex-boss at Ulster.

Peel and Jones, who have maintained a friendship and business partnership, have put their camaraderie on hold for the match. Newcastle, under Jones's guidance, is working to rebuild after recent struggles, aided by new financial support.

Peel also discussed his collaboration with Nigel Davies, who returned to Scarlets as director of rugby, allowing Peel to focus more on coaching. He expressed optimism about player availability, particularly Taine Plumtree, who has returned to training. Peel acknowledged the challenges Newcastle presents, highlighting their recent investments and ambition in the tournament.
