Dylan Cease Nearly Achieves No-Hitter in Blue Jays' Win Over Yankees
Dylan Cease nearly achieved a no-hitter, carrying it into the seventh inning, as the Toronto Blue Jays triumphed over the New York Yankees 4-3 on Saturday afternoon.
Cease, who is now 8-5, maintained his no-hit bid for 6 2/3 innings until Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit a single. He subsequently allowed an RBI single to Austin Wells, marking the Yankees' first run before leaving the game to applause from both Blue Jays and some Yankees fans.
This was Cease's second attempt at a no-hitter this season, having previously achieved one in July 2024. The Blue Jays secured their eighth win in 12 games, with contributions from George Springer, Charles McAdoo, and Nathan Lukes, who each recorded RBI singles. The Yankees' starter Ryan Weathers exited the game due to left forearm discomfort after pitching 3 1/3 innings.
