Dylan Harper Joins Spurs' Starting Lineup in Preseason Opener
In their preseason opener against Atlanta on Thursday, the San Antonio Spurs featured Dylan Harper in the starting lineup, replacing Julian Champagnie. This change was part of head coach Mitch Johnson's strategy to introduce a new lineup.
Harper's debut was notable as it would have marked the first time that he, De’Aaron Fox, and Stephon Castle started together. However, due to Fox experiencing soreness from practice, Champagnie took his place in the starting five. Harper excelled in the game, scoring 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, along with four rebounds and four assists in just 19 minutes.
While Johnson did not confirm if this lineup would be used consistently, it is expected that Harper will remain a key player moving forward. Harper expressed confidence in the potential of the guard trio, highlighting their ability to create mismatches and their unselfish play style.
