Eagle Point Ski Resort Aims for November 2027 Reopening After Fire Damage
The Eagle Point Ski Resort in Beaver County, Utah, is targeting a reopening in November 2027 after suffering significant damage from the Cottonwood Fire this year. The fire, which burned for 71 days, destroyed four of the resort's five lifts, a lodge, and over 300 acres of skiable terrain.
In a recent interview on Ski Utah’s Last Chair podcast, owner Shane Gadbaw discussed the rapid devastation caused by the fire, which began on a Monday afternoon and had severely impacted the resort by the following day. The resort was evacuated, and power outages prevented any attempts to mitigate damage with snow guns.
In addition to the fire damage, a subsequent flood washed out Highway 153, complicating access to the resort. Gadbaw noted ongoing communication with state representatives regarding the road's repair, emphasizing the urgency of restoring access before the 2027-2028 ski season. He expressed optimism about the road's reconstruction, stating that officials are prioritizing the project.
