Eagle Point Ski Resort to Remain Closed This Winter Due to Fire Damage

Eagle Point Ski Resort has announced it will not open for the 2026-2027 winter season due to severe damage from the Cottonwood fire this summer. The fire, which started on June 22, burned around 300 of the resort's 600 acres and contributed to the destruction of nearly 100,000 acres across Utah.

The fire resulted in the loss of four chairlifts and the Canyonside Lodge, along with 145 residential homes and seasonal condos located at the resort. Owner Shane Gadbaw emphasized the importance of safety for guests and employees, noting that the extent of the damage to the lifts is still being assessed. Inspections and potential replacements of lift components could take months, making winter operations unfeasible.

In response to the disaster, Eagle Point has initiated the BeaverTUF program to support community rebuilding efforts, which includes plans for forest restoration over 2,000 acres. Pass holders have been offered three options: a full refund, a transfer of their pass to the 2027-2028 season, or the option to donate their pass funds to BeaverTUF.
