Eagles Coach Confirms QB2 Competition Between Dalton and McKee
The Philadelphia Eagles are still determining their backup quarterback as the preseason progresses. Coach Nick Sirianni confirmed that the competition between Andy Dalton and Tanner McKee is ongoing after their recent game against the New England Patriots.
In the preseason matchup, Dalton started and played 22 snaps, completing three of ten passes for 44 yards. McKee, on the other hand, took 38 snaps and had a more impressive performance, connecting on 16 of 22 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Sirianni expressed confidence in both players, noting that Dalton's experience is a factor in his starting role, while McKee continues to show improvement.
Dalton, who has extensive experience in the league, has played for multiple teams since being drafted by the Bengals in 2011. In contrast, McKee has only two starts in three seasons with the Eagles and is still vying for the primary backup position behind Jalen Hurts.
