Eagles Secure Victory Over Commanders in Season Opener

The Philadelphia Eagles triumphed over the Washington Commanders 24-22 in their season opener on Sunday, achieving their sixth straight victory in opening games under head coach Nick Sirianni and quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Hurts completed 14 of 25 passes for 203 yards, throwing three touchdown passes and rushing for 48 yards. Dallas Goedert contributed significantly with four receptions for 77 yards and two touchdowns. The Commanders, led by quarterback Jayden Daniels, scored 13 points in the fourth quarter, narrowing the gap after trailing 24-16.

In a tense finish, Daniels connected with Terry McLaurin to set up a touchdown, but the Eagles successfully defended a two-point conversion attempt. The game concluded with DeVonta Smith recovering an onside kick, securing the Eagles' victory. Commanders tight end Chig Okonkwo left the game with a hamstring injury and did not return.
