ECB Displeased with Ireland's Decision to Host Afghanistan for ODI Series

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has voiced its discontent regarding Cricket Ireland's decision to host Afghanistan for a five-match ODI series, which commenced in Bready. This move comes despite England's ongoing participation against Afghanistan in ICC tournaments.

The ECB's concerns stem from its policy of not engaging in bilateral matches with Afghanistan due to the Taliban's restrictions on women's rights. This stance, supported by the UK government, has strained relations between the ECB and Cricket Ireland, which has maintained a cooperative relationship with the Afghanistan Cricket Board.

As part of this arrangement, Ireland is set to tour the United Arab Emirates next March for a series of matches against Afghanistan. While England has opted to play Bangladesh instead of Ireland in the upcoming schedule, it continues to face Afghanistan in ICC events, highlighting the complexities of international cricket relations.
