Ecuadorian Police Seize Cocaine Shipment Featuring Erling Haaland Stickers
Authorities in Ecuador have seized a cocaine shipment weighing 1,034 pounds that was marked with stickers of Norwegian soccer player Erling Haaland. The operation took place on Wednesday when police arrested the driver of a suspicious truck near the Colombian border.
The cocaine, totaling 469 kilograms, was discovered hidden in 370 packages within a false bottom of the vehicle. The police acted on an anonymous tip received earlier that week, leading them to the truck on the Pan-American Highway.
This incident highlights a common practice among drug traffickers, who often use images of famous athletes to identify their products. Ecuador serves as a key logistical hub for drug trafficking, with a significant portion of narcotics being shipped to the United States and Europe. The estimated street value of the seized cocaine is approximately $842,000 domestically and over $11 million in the U.S.
