Eddie Hearn: Tom Aspinall Requires Further Eye Tests Before UFC Return
Eddie Hearn has indicated that Tom Aspinall must undergo more eye testing before he can make his return to the Octagon, more than a year after an eye injury halted his UFC 321 title fight against Ciryl Gane, resulting in a no contest.
Aspinall is currently under contract, and Hearn emphasized that the timeline for his return depends on the approval from the commission regarding his injuries, highlighting the severity of his condition. Aspinall is actively training but will need to complete additional tests to ensure he is fit to compete.
After suffering a double eye poke during the fight, Aspinall underwent several surgeries. Gane has since won the interim heavyweight title by defeating Alex Pereira at UFC Freedom 250, setting the stage for a unification bout once Aspinall receives medical clearance.
