Edmonton Elks Extend Head Coach Mark Kilam's Contract Until 2029
The Edmonton Elks have confirmed the extension of Mark Kilam's contract as head coach, which will now run through the 2029 CFL season. This decision comes after Kilam led the team to its best regular season performance in over ten years.
In 2026, Kilam, a 47-year-old from Lethbridge, Alberta, guided the Elks to a 13-5 record, the best in the West Division, with an impressive 8-1 record at Commonwealth Stadium. This marks the team's best regular season and home performance since their last Grey Cup win in 2015.
The Elks secured their first playoff spot since 2019 and are set to host a playoff game for the first time in eight years during the West Division final on November 7. Kilam, who took over as head coach in December 2024 after a long tenure with the Calgary Stampeders, has a regular season record of 20-16 over two seasons.
