Edson Barboza Announces Retirement After UFC 330 Loss
Edson Barboza announced his retirement from mixed martial arts on Saturday night after being stopped by Esteban Ribovics during the UFC 330 main card in Philadelphia.
Following the fight, Barboza placed his gloves in the center of the cage and expressed doubts about his performance, particularly after his previous match against Lerone Murphy. He acknowledged feeling different and mentioned the challenges of losing, stating that he struggles with defeat.
At 40 years old and with 33 fights in the UFC, Barboza reflected on the toll his body has taken, despite a healthy training camp. He concluded his career with a record of 24-15 and a notable history, having faced prominent fighters like Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje. Barboza is recognized for his striking ability, including landing the first spinning wheel-kick knockout in UFC history.
