Edson Barboza Announces Retirement from MMA

Edson Barboza has announced his retirement from mixed martial arts following his defeat to Esteban Ribovics at UFC 330 in Philadelphia earlier this month.

The Brazilian fighter, who has had a 17-year career, expressed that his decision is final and urged promoters and managers to stop reaching out with fight offers. Barboza, 39, left the octagon after suffering his fourth consecutive loss, which was particularly emotional as his children were present for the first time.

While Barboza cited a severe left-eye injury from a previous fight as a significant factor in his decision, he believes he can still compete effectively but acknowledges that fighting at the highest level is no longer feasible. He plans to remain involved in the sport by sharing his extensive knowledge and experience, potentially taking on a coaching role in the future.
