Edward Cabrera Returns to Cubs Rotation Against Cardinals

Edward Cabrera is scheduled to return to the Chicago Cubs' rotation, starting against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday at Wrigley Field. He has been on the injured list since late June due to a left hamstring and adductor strain.

The 28-year-old right-hander has been preparing for his return by throwing bullpen sessions at Wrigley Field. His comeback is expected to provide essential depth to the Cubs' rotation, although it may lead to difficult roster decisions for manager Craig Counsell, including the potential move of David Peterson to the bullpen.

Cabrera's last rehab start was on August 11 with Double-A Knoxville, where he pitched five scoreless innings, striking out seven batters. His pitching workload will be managed as he transitions back into the rotation. Before his injury, Cabrera had a record of 5-4 with a 5.10 ERA over 72.1 innings pitched.
