El Desperado Withdraws from Super Junior Tag League Due to Injury
El Desperado, one-half of the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions, has been withdrawn from the Super Junior Tag League due to an injury, as announced by New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW). The tournament is set to begin on Saturday.
The injury involves spinal canal stenosis and a hernia, which has left El Desperado unable to walk, stand, or sit upright for extended periods. He has experienced discomfort in his left leg since March, with pain intensifying since June. Despite his desire to continue wrestling, he acknowledged that his body can no longer handle the strain and expressed regret to his fans.
Masatora Yasuda will replace El Desperado and team with Mistico during the tournament. El Desperado emphasized the importance of Yasuda's participation, viewing it as a significant opportunity for the future of NJPW. The Super Junior Tag League features 12 teams and will conclude at NJPW Power Struggle on November 3.
