Elena Rybakina Advances to Semifinals at National Bank Open
Elena Rybakina secured her place in the semifinals of the National Bank Open in Toronto by defeating Naomi Osaka in a quarterfinal match on Tuesday. The No. 2 seed triumphed with a score of 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4, marking her third consecutive three-set victory in the tournament.
Rybakina faced a challenging match, initially trailing in the first set and much of the second. Rybakina then broke Osaka's serve, capitalizing on an unforced error from her opponent.
In the semifinals, Rybakina will compete against No. 4 seed Coco Gauff, who received a walkover win against Belinda Bencic due to Bencic's hip injury. The other semifinal will feature No. 7 Iga Swiatek facing No. 9 Elina Svitolina.
