
Elena Rybakina Defeats Naomi Osaka in Canadian Open Quarter-Final
Elena Rybakina staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Naomi Osaka in the quarter-finals of the Canadian Open, winning 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 after two hours and 33 minutes of play.
Osaka, a four-time Grand Slam champion, initially took control of the match by winning the first set and leading 4-2 in the second. However, Rybakina rallied, winning three consecutive games and ultimately taking the second set in a tie-break.
In the deciding set, Osaka had four break points at 3-2 but could not convert them. Rybakina then broke Osaka and served out the match with her 15th ace. Following this victory, Rybakina is set to face Coco Gauff in the semi-finals. Osaka announced her withdrawal from the upcoming Cincinnati Open due to fatigue.
