
Eliud Kipchoge Sets Course Record at Melbourne Marathon
Eliud Kipchoge, the two-time Olympic champion, achieved a remarkable victory at the Melbourne Marathon, finishing with a course record time of 2:09:10 at the age of 41. This win marks his 12th at a World Marathon Major and his first since the Berlin Marathon in 2023.
The race included a segment along the Australian Formula One track and concluded at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Kipchoge expressed his enjoyment of the course and the support from fans, noting the unique experience of running in such iconic locations.
Australian Thomas do Canto finished second with a time of 2:10:35, while compatriot Reece Edwards took third. In the women's race, New Zealand's Camille French won with a time of 2:28:25, followed by Australians Sinead Diver and Nichola Sheridan. Kipchoge's Melbourne Marathon was part of his world tour, aiming to complete marathons on all seven continents to support his foundation focused on education and health.
