Ella Gaitan Named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week

Penn State field hockey forward Ella Gaitan has been awarded the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday.

Gaitan contributed significantly to her team's success, scoring a goal during a shootout that led to a 4-3 win over Ohio State, securing a spot in the postseason for the Nittany Lions. She concluded her week on October 18 by netting both goals in a vital 2-1 victory against No. 18 Michigan, with both assists coming from senior midfielder Natalie Freeman.

Currently, Penn State holds a record of 10-4 for the season and 4-1 in the Big Ten, ranking No. 14 in the field hockey RPI, although they are unranked in the NFHCA Poll. The team has three games left in the regular season, with the Big Ten Tournament scheduled to begin on November 4, hosted by Ohio State.
