Emilio Gay Undergoes Treatment for Shoulder Injury Ahead of Pakistan Test

Emilio Gay, an opener for England, is scheduled to undergo additional treatment for a shoulder injury this week, with hopes of being fit for the first Test against Pakistan on August 19.

The 27-year-old sustained the injury while playing for Durham in a One-Day Cup match against Middlesex. Following a scan on Saturday, he will be assessed at Beckenham during Pakistan's warm-up game starting Wednesday, although he will not participate in that match.

England's squad has already seen changes due to the retirement of Ben Stokes and Jacob Bethell's knee injury, which will keep him out of the three-Test series. Jordan Cox is set to replace Bethell, while Dan Lawrence will bat at six. Ollie Pope is included as a reserve batter, but he is not a specialist opener. Potential external replacements for Gay could include Dom Sibley, Ben McKinney, or Asa Tribe.
