Emily Metzgar Appointed New Dean of Penn State's Bellisario College of Communications

Penn State University announced the appointment of Emily Metzgar as the new dean of the Bellisario College of Communications, effective July 1. Metzgar previously held a position at Kent State University as a professor and director of the School of Journalism and Media.

She succeeds Denise Bortree, who served as interim dean since June 2025. Although Metzgar has begun her tenure, many students have yet to meet her due to the summer break. Metzgar expressed excitement about joining a college known for its strong reputation in journalism and media education.
