Emma Finucane Aims for Glory at Track World Championships
Welsh cyclist Emma Finucane is set to compete at the Track World Championships in Shanghai, aiming to reclaim her title after winning multiple medals in previous competitions. Finucane, along with fellow athletes Keely Hodgkinson and Amy Hunt, all born in 2002, has collectively earned 17 Olympic and world championship titles.
Finucane's recent achievements include four gold medals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. She has embraced a unique approach to her training, combining elements of fashion and science to boost her confidence on the track. This includes a custom-built bike and specially designed helmet, as well as personal touches like manicured nails.
As she prepares for her fifth World Championships, Finucane will participate in the team sprint, individual sprint, and keirin events. Despite facing challenges, including the withdrawal of her partner amid an investigation, she remains focused on her goal of winning and learning from her experiences. The championships serve as a crucial step towards qualifying for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
