Emma Finucane Aims for Gold After Bronze at Track Cycling World Championships
Emma Finucane, a 23-year-old cyclist, narrowly missed out on gold at the Track Cycling World Championships held in Shanghai, finishing with a bronze medal in the keirin event.
Finucane was edged out by Alina Lysenko and Lea Friedrich, completing the race just 14 thousandths of a second behind the leaders. This bronze adds to her previous silver medals in both the team sprint and individual sprint, which were won by Chinese competitors.
Finucane, who was part of Great Britain's gold medal-winning team at the 2024 Paris Olympics, expressed her commitment to improve and aims to retain that title in Los Angeles. She highlighted the competitive spirit within the British team as a key factor for future success, noting that they topped the overall medal table at the championships with a total of 12 medals.
