Endy Rodriguez Undergoes Season-Ending Hip Surgery

Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Endy Rodriguez is out for the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on his left hip labrum, as announced by the team. The procedure took place on Wednesday, and Rodriguez is expected to be sidelined for seven to nine months, potentially affecting his availability for part of the 2027 season.

Rodriguez had previously been placed on the injured list due to hip inflammation, and general manager Ben Cherington had indicated that surgery might be necessary. This surgery concludes a season that was shaping up to be a breakout for Rodriguez, who recorded a .267 batting average with seven home runs and six doubles in 159 plate appearances.

Injuries have plagued Rodriguez throughout his career, including a significant elbow surgery in the offseason of 2024 and limited play in 2025 due to hand and elbow issues.
