England Faces Harry Kane Replacement Dilemma
Harry Kane, now 33, recently became England's joint-highest appearance-maker during a 3-0 victory over Czechia, scoring twice and bringing his total to 91 goals in 125 caps. Despite his impressive form, there is growing concern about who will succeed him as he approaches the end of his international career.
England manager Thomas Tuchel acknowledged the challenge of finding a replacement, suggesting that Jude Bellingham could be a viable option. Bellingham has shown his scoring ability, netting 10 goals in 12 matches since the start of the 2026 World Cup, and has been effective in various attacking roles.
However, the pool of natural centre-forwards in England is limited. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has made a case for himself but is not seen as a long-term solution. Other strikers have struggled to make an impact, and Tuchel may consider a more fluid attacking system without a traditional centre-forward. Young talents like Brian Madjo and Will Lankshear are emerging, but Kane's longevity could provide them with the time needed to develop.
