In the first one-day international match held in Leicester, England women's cricket team secured a remarkable victory over Ireland, successfully chasing down a target of 282 runs. Maia Bouchier played a pivotal role, scoring 104 runs off 95 balls, contributing to England's highest successful chase in women's ODIs.

Bouchier's innings was complemented by Sophia Dunkley, who added 73 runs, as the pair formed a strong opening partnership of 143 runs. England reached their target in just 38.1 overs, with Alice Capsey and Freya Kemp finishing the match with a quick 54-run stand.

Earlier, Ireland posted a competitive total of 281-5, with notable contributions from Gaby Lewis, Amy Hunter, and Rebecca Stokell. Despite their efforts, Ireland's bowling and fielding fell short against England's batting prowess. The three-match series will continue in Derby on Thursday.
