England's Rugby World Cup Journey Hampered by Exhaustive Travel Schedule
England's Rugby League World Cup campaign has begun under challenging circumstances, as head coach Brian McDermott highlighted an exhausting travel schedule that left the team with minimal preparation time. Following their 30-12 loss to Tonga, the players faced a convoluted journey to their Perth base, which took nearly 48 hours.
The travel involved a bus ride from northern England to London, followed by a flight to Singapore instead of a direct route to Perth. After an extended layover, the team flew to Sydney before finally reaching Western Australia, resulting in only two full training sessions before facing Tonga.
As England prepares to play France and Papua New Guinea in their upcoming matches, McDermott noted the difficulties posed by the tournament's format, which has left England in a precarious position after just one defeat. Despite the challenges, he remains hopeful for the team's chances of advancing in the competition.
