Enjoying Fun-Sized Waves at Puerto Escondido
On a day characterized by manageable waves, Playa Zicatela in Puerto Escondido provided enjoyable surf conditions for both local and visiting surfers. Edwin Morales, a local videographer, documented a session featuring four-to-six-foot barrels that were accessible to a range of surfers, including Alan Cleland, Mexico's first-ever Championship Tour surfer.
Despite the absence of a massive swell, the beach still presented challenges with stiff offshore winds and sizable sets. Cleland paddled along the beach in search of the right wave and received assistance from local surfers, allowing him to catch a good ride.
Morales noted that the day was marked by classic surf conditions, offering numerous opportunities for surfers to enjoy the waves, though the beach's reputation for powerful surf remains intact.
