Eom Jisung Supported by Swansea Coach After Alleged Racial Abuse Incident
Eom Jisung, a winger for Swansea City, is being supported by his coach Vitor Matos after an alleged incident of racial abuse during a match against Millwall. The event occurred at The Den on Tuesday, prompting an investigation by the Metropolitan Police.
Matos stated that Eom, who has scored eight goals in 96 appearances since joining from Gwangju FC in 2024, feels supported by the club. He emphasized the importance of addressing such behavior, which he described as unfortunate but still prevalent in society. The match was briefly halted for about seven minutes following the report of the abuse.
Matos praised Millwall officials for adhering to the proper protocols during the incident. He expressed hope that the investigation would lead to a resolution and increased awareness regarding such issues. Eom, who was an unused substitute in the match, has been performing well this season and recently contributed to South Korea's victory at the Asian Games. He is expected to play in Swansea's upcoming match against West Ham United.
