Eric Bischoff Discusses Diamond Dallas Page's Popularity in WCW
Eric Bischoff recently expressed his views on Diamond Dallas Page's success in WCW, suggesting that it was not solely the Diamond Cutter that contributed to his popularity. Instead, Bischoff believes that Page's authenticity played a crucial role in winning over fans.
During a discussion on the podcast '83 Weeks,' Bischoff highlighted that Page's transition from a larger-than-life persona to being more genuine was key to his appeal. He noted that as Page embraced his true self, the effectiveness of the Diamond Cutter as a finishing move increased.
Bischoff pointed out that prior to this shift, Page's earlier gimmicks were less memorable. He also mentioned that the Diamond Cutter had been used by John Laurinaitis before Page, and Randy Orton later adopted it, making it famous as the RKO.
