Eric Bischoff Discusses Recent AEW Deaths and Tribute Shows
The AEW wrestling community has faced significant losses recently, with the deaths of Andy Williams, known as 'The Butcher,' at age 48, and Benjamin Satterley, also known as Pac, just three weeks later at age 40. Eric Bischoff addressed these tragedies and the emotional toll of tribute shows on the podcast '83 Weeks.'
Bischoff noted that the emotional weight is felt by all wrestlers, regardless of their personal connections to the deceased. He emphasized the challenge of performing under such circumstances, where maintaining focus for safety becomes difficult. Co-host Conrad Thompson reflected on the unpredictability of life, drawing parallels to a troubling trend from the 1990s and early 2000s when many wrestlers in their early 40s passed away.
Bischoff expressed concern over the recent deaths, suggesting that the loss of two wrestlers at such a young age is not typical and warrants attention. He hopes that this does not signal a return to the patterns seen in the past. The causes of death for both Williams and Satterley have not yet been disclosed, although initial reports indicated that Satterley's death did not appear suspicious.
