Erik Jones Tops NASCAR Cup Series Practice at Iowa
During the NASCAR Cup Series practice at Iowa Speedway, Erik Jones achieved the fastest lap with a time of 23.710 seconds on the 0.875-mile track in Newton, Iowa. This performance allowed him to overtake Austin Cindric, who had been leading the session.
Ty Gibbs, Cindric, Todd Gilliland, and Ryan Blaney completed the top five positions. Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, Ross Chastain, Christopher Bell, and William Byron, the defending Iowa winner, rounded out the top ten. Other notable finishes included Bubba Wallace in 11th and Brad Keselowski in 14th.
Chase Elliott faced challenges, finishing 30th after spinning and lightly damaging his car, but managed to return to the track before the session ended. Both Chase Briscoe and Denny Hamlin reported brake issues during practice. The Cup Series qualifying is scheduled next, with the Iowa Corn 350 race set to begin shortly after 3:30 p.m. ET on Sunday.
