Ernie Clement Receives Blue Jays' Heart and Hustle Award for 2026
Ernie Clement has been honored with the Toronto Blue Jays' Heart and Hustle Award for the 2026 season, marking his second consecutive win of this accolade, as announced by the team on Friday.
Clement is enjoying a standout season, achieving career highs with a .287 batting average and a .415 slugging percentage, alongside nine home runs and 38 RBIs, which also earned him his first all-star selection.
Known for his determination on the field, Clement recently made a crucial defensive play against the Chicago Cubs, preventing a potential game-winning hit. His journey to the majors has been challenging, having spent six years in the minors before securing a full-time position with the Blue Jays in 2024 at age 28. After being signed from the Oakland Athletics, he demonstrated significant improvement, leading to a remarkable postseason performance in 2025, where he set an MLB record with 30 hits. Clement is currently under arbitration for two more years and will not reach free agency until 2029.
