ESPN Updates College Football Rankings for Week 9
The college football landscape experienced notable shifts as ESPN released its updated College Football Power Index (FPI) rankings for Week 9. Following a weekend where seven teams in the AP Top 25 faced defeats, the rankings have undergone considerable changes.
Ohio State remains at the top of the FPI rankings despite not playing last Saturday. The team is currently addressing quarterback issues due to Julian Sayin's shoulder injury, which they need to resolve quickly to maintain their playoff aspirations. Notre Dame holds the second position, also having sat out the weekend, but faces challenges after a recent loss to BYU. Miami made the most significant leap, moving up to third place, bolstered by Malachi Toney's impressive performance against Pitt, where he achieved 16 receptions, 194 receiving yards, and three touchdowns, helping Miami maintain a perfect 7-0 record.
The updated top 10 in the FPI includes Georgia at fourth and Alabama at fifth, followed by Indiana, LSU, Texas, Ole Miss, and Utah.
