Essendon Delists Three Players Ahead of AFL Draft
Essendon Football Club has announced the delisting of players Nik Cox, Tom Edwards, and Kayle Gerreyn as they prepare for the upcoming AFL Draft. The club currently holds several draft picks, including 1, 17, and 25.
Nik Cox, who was drafted in the top 10 six years ago, faced injury challenges that limited his playtime, while Tom Edwards, who joined from Swan Districts, impressed in his debut but suffered an ACL injury shortly after. Kayle Gerreyn did not make it into the senior team during his two seasons but played 28 matches in the VFL.
Essendon has indicated that all three players may still have opportunities to train with the team following the National and Rookie Drafts. The club's list lead, Matt Rosa, acknowledged the contributions of the players and expressed hope for their future involvement.
